Along the exhibition route, the visitor can observe at length and from near the integral reproduction of the lesser archivolt of Venice’s Basilica main portal, divided into segments. Each large HD photo is accompanied by a linear scheme, drawn by student Bruna Barros, which makes it easier to catch the outline of the figures. An apparatus of explanatory texts and images of other artifacts completes the description and iconographical analysis of each segment. The complete photos and texts can be accessed from the home page.

5. Venetian patere (from photos by student Lorenzo Peter Castelletto, 2016),
The reproduction patere cast real shadows on the brick wall, an original ancient Venetian feature of the Magazzino del Sale 3. Photo: Shovupa Ainur, 2016

6. Globo di Coronelli, interactive installation by NTA student Andrea Chiarato.
A virtual version of the 1693 Celestial Globe by the renowned Venetian cosmographer Vincenzo Maria Coronelli (1650-1718). Unlike the original, now preserved inside a glass vitrine, it can be rotated as needed, thus recovering its original functionality. The figures of stars and constellations, questioned by touch, lead to a textual description. Photo: Shovupa Ainur, 2016

Audiovisual installation Tale of a Night Wanderer, opening scene: a fisherman in a boat in the Venice lagoon. The stars and constellations above his head morph into the figures and the tales narrated by the archivolt on the Basilica facade, then morph again into the starry sky.

The final scenes: little by little, the outline of the bas-relief appears in its entirety on the 3D model by Resi Girardello.

17. Audiovisual installation Tale of a Night Wanderer: the public.
The public watches, sitting on board seats. This calm and restful situation in front of the life-size model of St.Mark’s portal creates an intended contrast with the uncomfortable posture and the hectic atmosphere of Piazza San Marco. Photo: Gloria Vallese.
